New Media Expo

196649960_7d48c2ee77 What was I thinking? A conference in Las Vegas in August? I should have known. As we pull up to the gate, the pilot announces it is 106 degrees and the sun is setting! The weather forecast for today is 108. And Denver was just cooling off (its supposed to be under 55 when I get back, making a 50 degree difference).

There is no press registration for this show, nor a press room to work in, because "everyone at the show is technically press, or so they think," the friendly staff person told me. Fortunately the restaurant is closed right now so I have a place to sit, drink my Starbucks, and work on-line.

This show is interesting because media (audio and video) on the web is really growing! This morning InStat announced that on-line video will be a $4.5 billion industry next year. I said 10 years ago that any training video is better than no training video, the ability to distribute it free via YouTube is icing on the cake.

The morning keynote is on branding by Wine Library TV. Tomorrow's keynote is the one I really want to hear, its the "Will It Blend" president saying what worked and what didn't work in their immensely successful viral videos.
